Adding a Freehand ROI on an Image

Introduction

Using ROI tools, you can draw a freehand annotation on an image to highlight a region of interest on an image. Freehand shapes measure arbitrary points on an image.

Steps

  1. Right-click the image to display the image context menu.
  2. Select Annotations > Freehand ROI.
  3. Click and drag to create a freehand ROI.
  4. Do one of the following:

    If you want to ...

    Do this ...

    Enclose the freehand ROI shape.

    Close the ROI shape by joining the end point of the shape to the starting point.

    Create a freehand line.

    Release the left-mouse button when you are finished drawing the freehand line. The length of the line displays.

Note:

When you slowly create a freehand ROI, the length measurement might be longer because Synapse counts the micro mouse movements.

Results

Synapse displays ROI measurements as defined in the Annotations panel in User Settings. See Customizing Measurements for Annotations
