Configuring Workflow Settings
Introduction
Configure the automated workflow options to personalize the F8 and F9 functionality to best meet your business needs. Options include:
- Display options
- Viewing options
- Automatic display options
Steps
- To access User Settings, do one of the following:

- Click Workflow.
- Select from the following options to configure your workflow settings.
In the Mark Study Dictated (F8) section:
If you want to do this... | Choose this option... |

Display the next unread study after marking a current study dictated (by pressing F8). | Automatically display next unread study. |
Go back to the Worklist and manually select the next study. | Go back to worklist. This option is the default setting. |
In the Skip Study (F9) section:

Display the next unread study after skipping the currently displayed study (by pressing F9). | Automatically display next unread study. |

In the Automatic Display section:

Ignore any unread studies reserved for other users when using the automated workflow. | Skip studies reserved for others. This option is selected by default. |
Ignore any unread studies that other users with dictation privileges are currently viewing when using the automated workflow. | Skip studies currently displayed by others. This option is selected by default. |
Always display the study at the top of the list when automatically displaying the next unread study. | Always pick the study at the top of the worklist. (By default, this option is not selected.) |
- In the Dictation Notification
section:
Select Notify dictation system when an unread study is opened to manually send study information to the dictation system. By default, this option is not selected.
Note: | If you skip studies F9 or choose to not view studies that are reserved by another user, an alert will appear when you reach the end of the list you are working from to let you know that any remaining studies are either reserved by another user or previously viewed. |
In the Dictation Options section:
If you want to do this... | Choose this option... |

Change the study status to Dictated and remove the study from the Unread Studies Worklist. Note: The study is only removed from the Unread Studies Worklist if you have dictation privileges. | Mark Dictated (This is the default option.) |

- In the Worklist Filter section:
- By default, the Save QBE filters setting is enabled. This allows you to automatically save filter values and apply them each time the worklist is displayed.
- Clear Save QBE filters to disable the setting.
Synapse automatically saves any updated options and displays the following message in the bottom left corner of the window: Successfully saved.
Synapse displays the following message to alert you that an action must be taken for the settings to apply: Refresh the Synapse browser window for settings to apply.
- When you have finished making changes, click Close to close the User Settings page.
