Changing Image Orientation

Introduction

You can change the orientation of an image in the context menu in the following ways:

  • Horizontal flip
  • 90 degree rotation clock-wise
  • 180 degree rotation
  • Vertical flip
  • 90 degree rotation counter clock-wise
  • Rectangular ROI

Steps

  1. Right-click the image to display the image context menu.
  2. Click Spatial Tools.
  3. Select one of the following options:

    If you want to do this...

    Click this option...

    Change the image orientation so that the left side of the image is flipped to become the right side.

    Horizontal Flip

    Change the image orientation so that the top of the image is flipped to become the bottom of the image.

    Vertical Flip

    Rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise. The upper-left of the image is rotated so that it becomes the upper-right.

    Rotate Clockwise 90

    Rotate the image 90 degrees counter-clockwise. The upper-right part of the image rotates to the upper-left.

    Rotate Counter-clockwise 90

    Rotate the image 180 degrees clockwise. The top of the image rotates to the bottom.

Note:

To revert to the original state, click Reset > Soft Reset.

Additional Options

H   Hover over the orientation markers, such as A, H, P, or F, to display the active orientation overlay . Do any of the following:

  • Click to rotate the image clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Click to rotate the image clockwise 180 degrees.
  • Click A, P, R, L, H, or F to flip the image either horizontally or vertically.
  • Click to rotate the image counter-clockwise 90 degrees.

Note:

If the image does not support patient orientation, Synapse automatically provides <, >, v, and ^ as active overlay orientation markers on the image.
