Logging In Using Synapse Sign On (SSO) with Windows Pass-Thru Configured

If SSO is configured for your site using Windows Pass-Thru, you are automatically logged into Synapse when you log into your Windows account. When you open Synapse (using the URL provided by your System Administrator), no additional log in is required.

Logging In Without SSO Windows Pass-Thru Configured

For sites not configured for SSO using Windows Pass-Thru, log in from your browser at the URL your System Administrator will provide to you, using the following steps.

Note:

If you are running Windows with Chrome and log into Synapse through Window Authentication using the wrong password, a 401 error screen displays. To successfully log in, you must close Chrome and reopen it before attempting to log in again.

Steps

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. If you want to do this ...

    Complete these Steps.....

    Open Synapse 5.x and the Desktop Agent.

    Double-click Desktop Agent located on your desktop. The Sign on dialog box displays.

    Open Synapse 5 only.

    Enter the URL provided by your System Administrator. The Sign On dialog box displays.

  3. Enter your user name in the Username text field.
  4. Enter your Synapse password in the Password text field.
  5. Click Log In.
  6. Optional: Click Log in with Windows instead to use your Windows log in name and your Windows password.

Logging Out of Synapse Manually

Steps

  1. Click the user name field located on the top right side of the Worklist or PowerJacket. The Log out button displays.
  2. Click Log out.

Note:

All browser windows must be closed for the log out to be complete.

Automatic Log Out  

If your site is configured for automatic log out, Synapse automatically logs you out of the application when inactivity extends beyond a predetermined time period. If you want to disable or adjust automatic logout settings, see Enabling Automatic Logoff.
